Photographer's Note

Today we look at the Lesser Town Cemetery in Prague. Although it is called Malostransk it is located in Smchov. It was founded during a plague epidemic in 1680 on the site of a vineyard. The graveyard was long desolate and unkempt. It was revitalized and opened to the public in 2016. When you look there you will find that what a tombstone is a work of art. The photograph shows the tomb of Jan Vclav Tomek, a Czech composer, pianist and music teacher who lived in the years 1774 - 1850. The author of the tomb is the sculptor Robert Platzer.
