Karnataka - Hampi - Vittala Temple

Still impressed by the beautifully decorated columns in Hampi, I like to present you three more pictures on which they can be seen.

The main photo shows a number of details of the carved columns while the two pictures in the WS show the structure as a whole.

All of these are parts of the Vittala Temple, an ancient monument that is famous for its exceptional architecture and unmatched craftsmanship.
This temple dates back to the 15th century and is one of the largest and most famous structures in Hampi.
The Vittala Temple has three entrance gates with gopuras (= pyramidal tower over the gate) and several mandapas (= porch-like structure), each for a different function.
